St. Timothy's Spring Sprint 5K Run/Walk for Marshall A Huge Success!!!

St. Timothy's School, where Marshall is a third grade student, organized a 5K Run/Walk & 1 Mile Fun Run that was held on April 1, 2005 in Raleigh.  All proceeds from the race were donated to the Marshall Taylor Transplant Fund administered by the National Transplant Assistance Fund.  Over 550 runners and walkers participated.  Dozens of race sponsors gave money, race prizes, and time to cover all expenses for the event so that 100% of the race proceeds could be donated to this charity.  Stormy, the Carolina Hurricanes mascot, was at the event and was a big hit with children and adults alike.  Madison and Dave from Sunny Radio, 93.9 FM in Raleigh, came to greet all the participants.  The event was a huge success.  A big HUG and THANK YOU to all who helped and participated.

Taylor Family Has Weekend At Victory Junction Gang Camp, January 20-22, 2006

Marshall, Susan, & Phil spent three days at Victory Junction Gang Camp near Level Cross, NC.  The Camp was founded three years ago by NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and his wife Pattie to honor their late son, Adam.  The camp is located on 75 acres and hosts campers from7- 15 years old with chronic or life threatening illnesses.  The camp is free of charge to campers and their families.  The Taylor family has been invited for another weekend at Victory Junction in February 2007.

Marshall and the other children and their parents got to meet NASCAR driver Kyle Petty and his wife Pattie while at the camp.  They also participated in many other exciting programs: boating, fishing, arts & crafts, horseback riding, basketball, dancing, movies, and fellowship.  Click Here To Visit the Special VJGC Picture Page.

Marshall Attends Hoop Dreams

Marshall and his family heard about Hoop Dreams in 2006 and called immediately to get him signed up.  He met Coach Mike Zeillmann and was introduced to the other coaches, volunteers, and Hoop Dreams kids.  Marshall has had a great time at Hoop Dreams events, learned a lot of new basketball skills, and plans to attend as many sessions as he can make.  Click here to see Hoop Dreams picture taken at the new Emily K Family Life Center in Durham, NC and at the Dean Dome in Chapel Hill, NC.

Marshall is named VMI Hockey Fan of The Year and presented with a team signed VMI Hockey Jersey.

Marshall Taylor ( Son of VMI Alumnus, Phil Taylor) has been named 'Fan of the Year' by The VMI Hockey Club.

On December 2nd, before the VMI vs ECU game, the VMI team took the ice and presented 9 year old Marshall Taylor with his own VMI jersey, signed by the entire team.

Marshall is a huge hockey fan and plays in a youth league in Raleigh, NC.  He is still allowed to play hockey and is encouraged to do so by doctors until his potential kidney transplant.  He is a very energetic kid and never seems to let his situation get him down or let it take any fun out of life.

The VMI Ice Hockey team would like to announce Marshall Taylor as VMI Hockey's Fan of the Year for fighting through tough times at such a young age and showing VMI's warrior spirit in everything he does.  Our thoughts and prayers go to Marshall and his family as he continues this battle into the holidays and further on in life.

Marshall & Stormy 'in goal' on December 13th at the RBC Center.

Between periods at the Carolina Hurricanes vs. the Chicago Blackhawks game on December 13th 2005, Marshall was the goalie for his hockey team from the Raleigh IcePlex.  Stormy, the Hurricanes mascot, joined Marshall 'in goal' to give the fans a laugh.

The Carolina Hurricanes also donated a team-signed hockey stick for the silent auction held at the Raleigh IcePlex to benefit Marshall's Transplant Fund.

Marshall was invited to skate at a NCSU Ice Hockey Club practice in November.

Mike Young, Coach of the NCSU Ice Hockey Club, invited Marshall to skate with his club during a November 2005 practice at the RBC Center.  When Marshall left the ice, Coach Young skated over and presented him with a NSCU jersey signed by the players and coaches.  Coach Young asked Marshall to drop the 'ceremonial puck' prior to the UNC-G vs. NCSU game.  The UNC-G team captain gave Marshall a team-signed hockey stick befor the game started.  Coach Young decided to name the December 3rd  game, "Score One For Marshall Night."
