Philip Marshall Taylor was born at Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC on May 23, 1996 as a gift from God to Susan & Phil Taylor. Marshall has attended Johnston Christian Academy in Smithfield and Faith Lutheran School in Raleigh, NC. He is currently a seventh grade student at St. Timothy's School in Raleigh. Marshall's interests at school are science, reading, and like every young boy, recess.
His favorite sport is ice hockey and he plays on a non-travel team with the Raleigh Youth Hockey Association (RYHA). Baseball, basketball, and football are a close second, third, and fourth to ice hockey but his first joy is skating with his teams and getting to play goalie. Marshall's hobbies are collecting baseball and hockey cards and helping his parents with their blue bird-nesting project. The past four springs he helped film a pair of blue birds as they hatched and fledged on the family back porch.
Since he was diagnosed with bi-lateral kidney disease in August 2005, Marshall has had to undergo many hours of frightening and lengthy medical tests. Throughout all of this he has been brave and hopeful that things will be better when he gets his new kidney. Marshall says he wants be to a TV sports announcer and commentator when he grows up. For now he says he just wants to be a normal kid and to be able to play sports with his friends and classmates and read his favorite books.
Marshall and his Mom, Susan, attend St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Raleigh, NC. He goes with his dad when Phil conducts services at The Day-By-Day Treatment Center in Selma, NC or whenever Phil is invited to be the guest preacher at other churches. You may contact Marshall by sending him an email at: marshall@mthockeyplayer.com . He will be glad to hear from you and happy to answer your questions about his progress.
Kipper, Marshall, & Bailey - May 2001 - Two of Marshall's best friends are Kipper & Bailey. Bailey is a pure bred Sheltie. Kipper is a pure bred West Highland Terrier. They have been with us since March 2000 and have provided many hours of fun and enjoyment for the whole family. They love Marshall and are his constant companions when he's at home.
Marshall love ice hockey and his doctor has told him that he will be able to play even after his transplant operation. He'll just have to wear a few extra pads.
Marshall has a great spirit about his condition. He is upbeat and keeps all of us smiling. Our family believes that the spirit of joy and laughter that Marshall brings to our lives is another gift from a loving, joyous, and laughinh God.
